Submissions Open!

Ink & Magick is now accepting submissions for a steampunk Poe-esque anthology.

This anthology will be a collection of steampunk short stories, poems, and art with Edgar Allan Poe-like themes. It is not a call for steampunk retellings of Poe stories/poems.

Guidelines:

  • All submissions are due January 31, 2020 at 11:59 p.m.

  • Short stories should be between 1500 to 5000 words in length.

  • Sketches/art should be submitted in black and white as JPEGs.

  • Short stories and poems should be submitted as Word documents—12pt. Times New Roman font.

Upon Selection Terms:

  • Non-exclusive printing rights for short stories will be purchased from authors at a rate of $30 per short story. Authors will retain all copyrights.

  • Non-exclusive printing rights for poems will be purchased from authors at a rate of $15 per poem. Unless the selected poem is between 1500 and 5000 words and reads like a story; in that case, poems will be awarded the short story rate. Authors will retain all copyrights.

  • Non-exclusive printing rights for sketches/art will be purchased from artists at a rate of $30 per sketch. Artists will retain all copyrights. It is also possible that a submitted sketch will be chosen as the coverart for the anthology. In this case, selection committee will negotiate with artist for further rights and will likely request art in full color.

  • Payments will be made to selectees prior to publication.

  • Selectees will be expected to work with the editor on any needed revisions.

  • Goal for publication is October 2020.

  • All selectees will be given one printed copy of the anthology upon first printing.

  • Selectees can purchase further copies from Ink & Magick (at printing/shipping cost) for resale.
